Resume

Xianran Xing, is currently Changjiang professor at University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), and director of the Institute of Solid State Chemistry, USTB. He received his BS degree in chemistry from Anqing Teachers College 1988, and his Ph.D in physical chemistry from USTB in March of 1994. His research interests focus on the study of solid state chemistry, involving syntheses strategy, crystal structure, local structure and chemical ordering, chemical design for functional materials. Last dozen years, he leads a group to start a pioneer work on the development of negative thermal expansion (NTE) in lead titanate-based perovskite compounds, which could be used to tailor thermal expansion coefficients (TEC) of ferroelectric, magnetoelectric, and multiferroic perovskites. His group made original and profound contributions to NTE controlling of alloys, and play a leading role to solid state chemistry and physics. He published more than 200 peer reviewed papers in the Journals, including Science, J.Am.Chem.Soc, Phys.Rev.Lett. etc.
